2001

This was a year where we raised the awareness of YEAB through direct participation in National Workshops - Asia Inc to International Conferences - APEC Young Leaders Forum and APEC SME Business Forum in China plus the 2nd Asia-Europe Entrepreneurs Forum and Asia-Europe Business Forum in Singapore. We held our first Networking Party for the members and their extended friends, colleagues and business partners and also did some housekeeping in conducting our very first Annual General Meeting in the month of August 2001. This was also a year to build on the fundamentals where Seminars and Workshops related to Business and Financial Accounting were attended by some of our members.

Members BBQ - Highly successful social event held at the Royal Brunei Yacht Club in Kota Batu. An afternoon filled with games & networking fun.

July 2001

24th-27th July - APEC Economy Report On Responding To Challenge Of The Digitised Society - Work shop on "Transforming the Digital Divide into a Digital Opportunity"
By the invitation and sponsorship of the Ministry Of Communication, Fauziah D Talib, attended the workshop and represented Brunei on the presentation of the country report - 7 minutes summary. With the assistance of the Ministry of Communication, Ministry of Industry & Primary Resources and the Ministry Of Education, she also prepared the country report in advance.

9th-14th July - APEC Young Leaders Forum 2001
By the invitation and sponsorship of the Ministry Of Industry & Primary Resource, Lisa D Ibrahim (President of the YEAB), Gwendolyn Lee (YEAB Ast. Secretary) and Hj Rosli bin Dato Halulubalang H Abd Wahab (YEAB Member) attended the forum and represented Brunei. Lisa D Ibrahim gave her personal perspective of the forum and the YEAB team also assisted representatives from the Ministry Of Foreign Affairs in the preparation of a paper entitled "Does Size Matter?"

 

August 2001

27-30th August - APEC SME Business Forum & Exhibition 2001 - "New Century, New Challenges-Innovation & Development Environment"
YEAB represented by Fauziah Dato Talib and Albert Tan. Fauziah Dato Talib was one of the speakers where her paper was entitled "The Development Of High Tech SMEs". Fauziah Dato Talib also undertook the role of Country Delegate for the Working Group Session. The role was supposed to be undertaken by a representative/delegate from the Brunei National Chamber Of Commerce, who was not able to attend the actual session.

24th August - YEAB Annual General Meeting
Members were required to provide their nomination of Office Bearers for Year 2002 /Year 2003.

 

October 2001

29-31st October - Understanding Financial Derivatives Instruments - PI ETA Seminar held at IPA, Brunei

22nd October - Mastering Cash Flow + Young Entrepreneurs Awards
BSP LIVEWIRE Brunei in association with YEAB. FREE for any YEAB members. Several Young Entrepreneurs took the opportunity to participate in this work shop, namely: Lisa D Ibrahim and others.

6-8th October - 2nd ASIA-EUROPE ENTREPRENEURS FORUM (AEYEF), Singapore

7-9th October - ASIA-EUROPE BUSINESS FORUM (AEBF) VI, Singapore
By the invitation of the Ministry Of Industry and Primary Resources, several representatives of Brunei's SMEs were sponsored for the event. These were Stephen Ong, Ahmad Isa, Hanafi Pehin Rahman and Fauziah D Talib. Each were involved in various related workshops - SME, Finance, Infrastructure and ICT (Information Communication Technology) respectively.
