15th May - Young Brunei entrepreneurs ready to prove themselves

Bandar Seri Begawan, Sun: They are young, they are smart, they are business-savvy and they are in the money. Or rather they will be because of the three factors. Meet Brunei young entrepreneurs who for the last month have been busy brainstorming, networking and organizing themselves during weekly meetings, albeit with regular caffeine buzzes in between, so that they can capably chart the economic passage of the country. These dynamic young people fully intend to make an impact and they know that the one and only way this can be achieved is with one voice, hence, the first ever Young Entrepreneurs Association of Brunei, which goes by the acronym "YEAB".

21st May - Boost for young entrepreneurs by Jacky Lim

The Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources (MIPR) hosted the “National seminar of Young Entrepreneurs in Brunei” yesterday. The seminar was jointly organized by the Young Entrepreneurs Association Brunei (Y.E.A.B) and the Resource and Standards Centre of the MIPR. Hj. Ahmad Hj. Rani, Director of the Resource and Standards Centre of the MIPR said that the seminar was important because the country’s future lays in the hands of young entrepreneurs. The seminar was aim at showing young entrepreneurs the right paths to take.

Prince Qawi to launch YEAB today by Suriani Garip

THE APEC SME Business Forum that officially commenced yesterday will establish a national legacy called the “Brunei Initiatives” which will be the formation of the Young Entrepreneurs Association of Brunei Darussalam (YEAB) to nurture the development of young entrepreneurs. The launching of YEAB will be officiated today at 5:30 pm by Prince Abdul Qawi, the Executive Deputy Chairman and Director of QAF Brunei.

YEAB Launched by Staff Reporter

Bandar Seri Begawan, Wed: The Young Entrepreneurs Associations, Brunei (YEAB) was launched today at the International Convention Center (ICC) here today. Yang Amat Mulia, Pengiran Muda Abdul Qawi was the guest of honour. The winner of the YEAB logo design competiton Arkitek Ibrahim was also presented a Certificate of Appreciation. The offical website of the YEAB http://www.yea-brunei.com was also launched by the guest of honour.

Young Entrepreneurs tackle SME issues

Young entrepreneurs and “village heads” from Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) economies yesterday expressed optimism that emergence of the “New Economy” is spurring a more supportive environment for young entrepreneurs. In a hitherto unheard of televised “Town Hall” session in any APEC SME Business Forum and which was beamed to all 21 APEC economies, young entrepreneurs shared each other’s experience on the challenges of being in business and received advice from established business people on the keys to business success. Part of the dialogue session is being made into an educational video for distribution to schools within APEC economies.

YEAB's first co-operative venture

A MEMORANDUM of understanding was signed between the newly formed Young Entrepreneurs Association Brunei (YEAB) and the Young Entrepreneurs Association of British Columbia (YEABC). The MOU signifies the further strengthening of commercial relations and cooperation between the two associations. The signing was held at a dinner at the poolside restaurant of the Royal Brunei Recreation Club. Lisa Ibrahim, the pro-tem President represented the Young Entrepreneurs Association Brunei and on the British Columbia side was its c-chairman, Paula Mowat.r

YEAB-YEABC tandatangani MoU

Berakas, 22 Jun. Pertubuhan Perusahaan – perusahaan Muda Brunei (YEAB) telah menan-datangani perjanjian persefahaman dengan Pertubuhan Perusahaan-perusahaan Muda British Columbia (YEABC), sempena Majlis makan malam tidak rasmi sempena permesyuratan Forum Perdagangan SME APEC, di Kelap Rekreasi Diraja Brunei, malam tadi. Perjanjian persafahaman itu, telah ditandatangani oleh Presiden Pro-Team YEAB; Dayang Lisa ibrahim dan Pengerusi Bersama YEABC, Puan Paula Momat dihasratkan bagi meninkatkan hubunan komersil dan kerjasama di antara kedua buah pertubuhan. Kedua pertubuhan itu, telah bersetuju perkara-perkara yang berhubungkait dengan ekonomi dan perdagangan di samping bagi memperkembangkan informasi perniagaan kepada ahli-ahli di Negara masing-masing.

Royal Patron for YEAB

Bandar Seri Begawan, Tue: Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Muda Abdul Qawi was elected to be the Royal Patron for Young Entrepreneurs Assocation of Brunei, Y.E.A.B, an association release today said. The President, Lisa Binti Dato Haji Ibrahim said that the election was done due to the activeness of Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Muda Abdul Qawi as a young entrepreneur in the local business.

Prince Abdul Qawi, the Executive Deputy Chairman and Director of QAF Brunei, has been named as the Royal Patron of the young Entrepreneurs Association of Brunei (YEAB). In a statement, YEAB’s President, Lisa binti Dato Haji Ibrahim said, “Prince Abdul Qawi was approached as Patron as he is a young entrepreneur actively involved in business and is ideal to act as a role model for the other young entrepreneurs in Brunei”. The YEAB is a non-profit organization, primarily targeted to represent entrepreneurs below the age of 40, who are either a founder, co-founder, owner, partner, major shareholder or holding a management position in a corporation or firm registered in Brunei Darussalam. YEAB’s mission is to ensure access to a network of entrepreneurial experience and facilities to nurture an enterprising culture.

Young businessmen meeting on Friday

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, WED: YAM Pengiran Muda Abdul Qawi has consented to be the Royal Patron of the Young Entrepreneurs Association of Brunei, a Y.E.A.B release today said. The first General Meeting of the association will be held on Friday. Prince Abdul Qawi was the Guest of Honour for the launching of the YEAB on June 21, during the Apec SME Business Forum, and is also a full member of the Association. “Prince Abdul Qawi was approached with a request that he be the Patron, as he is involved in business and is ideal to act as a role model for other Young Entrepreneurs in Brunei", said YEAB President Lisa binti Dato Haji Ibrahim in the release.

The meeting, among other things, announced the confirmation of the YEAB executive committee for 2000 -2001. The newly-installed eight YEAB Executive Committee members announced the appointment of three leading business figures to its advisory council. Members were also informed of the past and future activities of the association, such as conducting workshops, seminars, team-building activities for members, creation of the members’ directory and website, active participation with relevant government bodies to foster entrepreneurial skills, etc.

YEAB, officially launched on June 21, 2000 during the APEC SME Business Forum, has confirmed Prince Abdul Qawi, the Executive Deputy Chairman and Director of QAF Brunei as its Royal Patron. The Young Entrepreneurs Association Brunei (YEAB) yesterday held its first general meeting at Sheraton Utama Hotel. Members of the YEAB also witnessed the confirmation of the YEAB Executive Committee for 2000/2001 at the gathering. The association intends to bring together young entrepreneurs who represent the driving force in developing the country’s economy in the future.

The newly-installed eight YEAB Executive Committee members announced the appointment of three leading business figures to its advisory council. The three are Mr. Timothy Ong, Dato Hj Hamdillah H.A. Wahab and Datin Paduka Hayati Binti P.O.K.S.D.S.P. Hj Mohd Salleh. Members were informed of the association’s activities such as workshops/seminars, team-building activities for members, creation of the members directory and website as well cooperation with some government bodies to improve entrepreneurial skills.

YEAB mengadakan mesyuarat agong pertama

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Jumaat – Persatuan Usahawan Muda Brunei (YEAB) mengadakan mesyuaratnya yang pertama hari ini untuk melantik jawatankuasa eksekutifnya yang pertama bagi sesi 2000/2001. Anggota persatuan itu yang mendapat perkenan Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Muda Abdul Qawi atas perlantikannya sebagai penaung melantik Lisa Haji Ibrahimsebagai presiden, sementara Frances Lo dilantik timbalan presiden dan jawatan setiusaha oleh Albert Tan dan bendahari oleh Fauziah Talib. Mesyuarat yang dihadiri oleh 35 anggotanya juga menamakan Awang Timothy Ong, Dato Haji Hamdillah Haji Abdul Wahab dan Datin Paduka Hayati Haji Mohd. Salleh sebagai anggota lembaha penasihat. Dalam mesyuarat itu, anggota dimaklumkan mengenai aktiviti yang dilaksanakan oleh persatuan serta beberapa lagi yang sedang dalam perancangan, termasuk menganjurkan bengkel, seminar, mewujudkan panduan bagi annggota dan laman web serta penglibatan aktif mereka dengan beberapa agensi kerajaan untuk mengasah bakaat keusahawanan. Selain itu, jawatankuasa eksekutif juga meluluskan perlembagaan persatuan yang didaftarkan dan membentang laporan kewangan daripada bendahari. YEAB yang ditubuhkan pada 21 Jun sewaktu forum Perniagaan Peniaga kechil dan sederhana APEC mempunyai matlamat mengetengahkan semangat usahawan muda di negara ini. Di samping itu, persatuan itu berfungsi sebagai satu perkumpulan yang dapat menyediakan peluang bagi anggotanya bergaul dan bertukar pendapat dari segi kebudayaan, pendidikan, social, perdagangan dan rekreasi.
