BINA-YEAB dialogue held to foster ties

A dialogue between BINA and YEAB was held on Wednesday the 4th April 2007 as part of an effort to foster ties between private and public sectors in the country.

The head of the YEAB Delegation, Hjh Mazrina Hj Md Yusof who is the Secretary of YEAB said, "The dialogue is a great step forward for us an association because it paves the way for constructive interaction with the department. Our members will be able to benefit significantly from this open and positive dialogue, which we hope will allow us to identify areas where mutual cooperation can be pursed in the future".

It also announced that the association has made plans to hold similar dialogues with other relevant government agencies in the near future.

 

Dialogue session between YEAB, Forestry Department

The Young Entrepreneurs Association of Brunei and the Forestry Department held a dialogue session recently at the Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources building in Berakas. Present were the Forestry Department's Director, Haji Saidin Salleh, as well as representatives from both parties.

The president of YEAB, who was pleased with the dialogue's success and outcome, said, "We as an association are playing our part in promoting cooperation between the public and private sectors, as well as providing our members with a platform to have direct contact with many government departments.

YEAB has made plans to hold similar meetings with other government agencies in near future.

 

Boosting Public-Private Sector Cooperation in Tourism

The Young Entrepreneurs Association of Brunei (YEAB) held a dialogue session with the Tourism Department towards boosting public/private sector cooperation in Brunei.

It was held at the Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources by Chief Executives Officer of Brunei Tourism, Sheikh Jamaluddin, tourism department representatives and YEAB Members.  The Department gave a presentation on its role and functions and explained the Departments Strategic Plans.

"This dialogue represents the 3rd dialogue that YEAB has had with the departments under MIPR and has been extremely beneficial to our members, who have gained valuable information from the various department to assist them in doing business and in their knowledge of the numerous opportunities that are available to them. These dialogues are also a positive step to demonstrate our mutual (MIPR and YEAB) willingness to encourage open and productive public and also private sector cooperation". said the President of YEAB.

The YEAB said it "provided its members with access to a network of entrepreneurial experience and facilities to nurture an enterprising culture."

 

Entrepreneurs exposed to venture opportunities

In an effort to boost cooperation between the public and private sector in Brunei Darussalam, a dialogue session between the fisheries Department, young Entrepreneurs Association of Brunei and AsiaInc Forum participants was held at the Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources.

The one-day talk was chaired by Sabri Hj Md Taha, the Head of Strategic Development Division.

One of the highlights of the dialogue was a discussion on venture opportunities for young entrepreneurs such as aquaculture, seafood processing, capture fisheries and eco-tourism.

According to the President, Lisa Dato Paduka Hj Ibrahim, it was the fourth dialogue that the association has held with departments under the Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources. "it has been extremely beneficial to our members," she said, adding that they now have a better understanding business opportunities in Brunei.

 

Agriculture Department, YEAB hold 5th Dialogue

The Young Entrepreneurs Association of Brunei and the Agriculture Department, under the Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources held a dialogue at the Agriculture Department in Berkas Old Airport which was led by Agriculture Department Assistant Director, Haji Mohd Sufri bin Abdullah.

According to the YEAB President, the dialogue was "the fifth event of its kind between the YEAB and Agriculture Department and it is extremely beneficial to our members, who have gained valuable information from departments that assist them in their businesses. They demonstrate the mutual cooperation between public and private sectors".

Among the topics covered during the dialogue were functions of the Agriculture Department and procedures and activities in the agriculture sectors.

The day ended with a discussion on the next steps that will be undertaken to ensure increased cooperation between private and public sectors.

Entrepreneurial Development . National Standard centres hold dialogue session with YEAB

The Entrepreneurial Development and National Standard and Accreditation centres and the Young entrepreneur Association of Brunei (YEAB) held a dialogue session as part of a series of programmes organised between Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources and YEAB following their successful dialogue in May 2006.

The dialogue session also featured a discussion on the kinds of entrepreneurial development that can benefits entrepreneurs like YEAB and the BSME website.

At the end of the dialogue, the YEAB members also took the opportunity to visit a few of the incubator programmes run by the Entrepreneurial Development Centre.

 

Sokongan padu bagi kemajuan kumpulan PKS

Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Paduka Seri Baginda Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah Sultan dan Yang Di-Pertuan Negara Brunei Darussalam bertitah menyeru sektor kerajaan supaya memberikan laluan untuk pertumbuhan dan perkembangan perusahaan Kecil dan Sederhana (PKS) di negara ini sempena sambutan Ulang Tahun Hari Keputeraan Baginda Yang Ke-61 Tahun pada 15 Julai lalu.

Titah berkenaan disambut baik rakyat dan penduduk negara ini terutama mereka yang berada di bawah kumpulan PKS, rata-ratanya melahirkan rasa syukur, menjunjung kasih sert agembira dengan berita perkhabaran berkenaan.

Media Permata hari ini sempat menemu bual Presiden Young Entrepreneurs Association of Brunei(YEAB), Dayang Lisa Haji Ibrahim di ibu pejabatnya di Jalan Tutong.

Titah Baginda Sultan itu sekali gus mengiktiraf PKS atau YEAB sendiri sebagai sebuah intitusi yang turut sama menyumbang kepada pembangunan dan kepentingan negara terutama pada jangka pendek dan jangka panjang.

Bercakap mengenai hubungan agensi kerajaan bersama PKS ataupun YEAB, beliau menjelaskan jalinan kerjasama kedua-dua agensi dan kumpulan itu sejak beberapa tahun kebelakangan ini menampakkan hasil respons yang positif.  Beberapa kementerian dan jabatan mula membuka ruang dan jalan yang mudah kepada PKS dan YEAB seperti menyediakan skim bantuan yang berbentuk kewangan , pengurusan, perhubungan serta banyak lagi.

 

Brunei SMEs Raring to go

Filled with optimism, Brunei Darussalam's Small and Medium Enterprises (SME's) are taking up the challenge to realise His Majesty's vision for the sector to lead the sultanate's economic growth.

Stakeholders interviewed by The Brunei Times are thankful for the government's focus on the private sector, with anticipation squarely placed on efforts to facilitate entrepreneurship.

"We are overjoyed to have that emphasis and leading mission statement come from His Majesty and as loyal subjects, we are obliged to actively pursue and fully support His Majesty's wishes," said Pengiran Redzuan Pengiran Hj Abbas, programme Director of LiveWire, a Brunei Shell sponsored community programme to encourage the youth to become entrepreneurs. "most importantly, this will be the real mission for all of us, especially our young Bruneians. We are gearing to realise His Majesty's wishes and creating an entrepreneurship culture, empowering our future Bruneians to be more ready and becoming responsible entrepreneurs."

Lisa Dato Ibrahim, president of the Young Entrepreneurs Association of Brunei (YEAB), is also heartened by the emphasis placed on SMEs and is hopeful the move will energise the private sector, in particular, young entrepreneurs.

"I am glad to see the emphasis on SME's as important contributors to our nation's development being recognised and I look forward to a more energised private sector, especially young entrepreneurs," she said.

Lisa also stressed the importance of communication between private sector and government  agencies. "The YEAB through its continuous dialogues with MIPR and the department within the ministry have already realise benefits for its members and look forward to improving our cooperation even further in the future."

Labour Department, YEAB hold dialogue

A dialogue between the Department and YEAB held at meeting hall of the Department's building. Aiming at boosting cooperation between public and private sectors in the country, the dialogue was chaired by Acting Commissioner of Labour Dayang Hjh Rosliah Haji Hasbollah.

Among the topics covered were the general functions of the Labour department and opportunities available for local entrepreneurs to be involved in strategic planning.

Temburong Students get charity Hampers

in conjunction with the holy month of ramadhan and the upcoming Hari Raya celebration, The YEAB donated charity hampers to 14 underprivileged students in Temburong Districts. The receipts, selected by the headmasters and hesdmistresses of their schools, received food, school materials and cash.

 

YEAB brings smiles to 14 students

14 underprivileged students from schools in Temburong District received charity hampers recently from the YEAB as part of the Association's annual charity programme. There, members of YEAB executive committee donated the hampers to Primary and Secondary students selected by the principals of the respective schools.  The association, whose members are made up of young business entrepreneurs, in addition to its main mission of providing a supporting role for young entrepreneurs to develop in the sultanate, also identifies and organises ways for its members can give back to the community.

Yang Dipertua YEAB, Lisa Ibrahim berkata sesi dialog di antara YEAB dan pelbagai jabatan kerajaan serta institusi swasta diharapkan dapat menjana kerjasama lebih erat dan cara menjalankan perniagaan yang lebih baik diantara pengusaha muda dan sektor swasta serta awam di Brunei.
